Every Mitten Masterpiece kit is proudly produced and shipped from the Greater Lansing area of Michigan. Unlike many paint-by-number kits on the market—which are manufactured overseas—ours are designed, printed, and assembled right here in the USA. All components are carefully sourced from trusted American suppliers: our paints are mixed in-house, our canvas is printed locally, and every detail is crafted with a focus on quality and Michigan pride.

Our Individual Kits are now available in two premium formats: a 16” x 20” rolled canvas or a stretched, ready-to-hang canvas. Our rolled canvases are crafted from triple-primed, textured cotton and are ideal for framing after painting, while our stretched option arrives mounted on a wooden frame for a clean, gallery-ready display right out of the box. Both options deliver the same smooth painting experience and artist-grade quality you expect from Mitten Masterpiece.

Our paints are fluid and high-quality (we only use Golden Acrylics brand). Our paints are never watered down or too thick like you often see in cheap acrylics found in many mass-produced kits. Crafted for smooth, consistent application, they deliver rich, vibrant coverage with every brushstroke, so you can enjoy a painting experience that feels effortless and refined.

We use Golden Acrylics, recognized worldwide as some of the finest paints available. These premium pigments deliver rich, vibrant color and smooth, even coverage. Each kit’s palette is hand-mixed in-house to ensure perfectly balanced tints, shades, and tones tailored for your painting. The fluid, creamy texture makes painting effortless and satisfying, with excellent flow across the canvas. While we use the most opaque base colors possible, lighter hues like yellows and oranges may require a second coat for full vibrancy due to the natural characteristics of these pigments.

Our hand-mixed acrylic paints stay fresh much longer than most people expect. When lids are sealed tightly and the pots are stored at normal room temperature, the paints typically remain in great condition for a year or more. Many customers report using them well past that timeframe with no issues. For the very best experience, we recommend beginning your kit within the first 6 months.

That is correct! We purchase Golden Fluid Acrylics (a well known, quality, artist-grade brand) and hand mix each color to match the kit designs as close as possible.

We never fold our canvases. All kits arrive either carefully rolled to prevent creasing or professionally stretched on a wooden frame, so you never have to worry about folds that could compromise your final painting.

All Mitten Masterpiece designs and paint mixes are created in-house by the owners, Bobbie and Gavin. We aren’t kidding when we say we hand-mix every single color—once your order comes in, we begin custom mixing your paints. Kits sold online (not in stores or at craft fairs) are typically not pre-made so that your paints arrive as fresh as possible when your kit reaches you.

We put a great deal of care into making sure each Mitten Masterpiece design is based on imagery that’s ours to use—whether it’s photography we’ve captured or digital illustrations we’ve created ourselves from Michigan’s most recognizable landscapes and landmarks.

Michigan’s most beloved landmarks—like the Mackinac Bridge, Charlevoix’s red lighthouse, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and the harbor towns—are photographed by thousands of visitors every year from very similar vantage points. Because most tourists naturally stand in the same scenic spots, many photos of these iconic places can look alike. This can create the impression that images across the internet resemble each other, even when they were taken separately.

All of our digital illustrations are created and refined by us using professional design tools, just as most modern artists do. Many of our kit designs also originate from photos we personally capture across Michigan, which we then transform into paint-by-number compositions.

Today’s creative software often includes built-in AI-assisted features as part of the platform, and like many artists, we may encounter or use those tools in limited ways. AI is simply one of many background capabilities within modern design software.

Every Mitten Masterpiece design is intentionally crafted and carefully edited to ensure it reflects the quality, originality, and Michigan authenticity our brand stands for.
