Mitten Masterpiece Painting Guide

No prior painting experience needed! Our kits are designed for anyone ready to create something beautiful—one number at a time. With high-quality paints, pre-numbered canvases, and a touch of patience, you’ll soon have a frame-worthy work of art to call your own.

Included in Every Kit:

  • 1 Pre-numbered rolled canvas

  • Acrylic paint pots (numbered)

  • Large paint stir sticks

  • Paint brushes in varied sizes

  • Color card insert (shows the final painting)

  • QR code to digital reference sheet

Getting Started

  1. Prepare your workspace: Lay your canvas flat on a clean surface. Have a cup of water and paper towel nearby for rinsing and drying brushes.

  2. Use the reference sheet: This sheet shows the completed image and is a helpful guide as you paint. Start with larger areas or lighter colors if you’re unsure where to begin.

  3. Match numbers to colors: Each paint pot is labeled to match a section of the canvas. Dip your brush and fill each section completely, staying within the lines for best results.

  4. Clean your brush between colors: Rinse thoroughly with water, blot with paper towel, and switch to the next color. Avoid mixing colors unless directed.

  5. Let each layer dry: Acrylics dry quickly. Allow one area to dry before layering over it or working adjacent to it.

Helpful Tips

  • Use a fine-tip brush for tight corners and small numbered areas—precision makes all the difference.

  • Add a drop or two of water to thin thicker paints for smoother application. Stir well before painting.

  • Allow one section to dry before painting adjacent areas to prevent smudging.

  • Keep brushes clean by rinsing thoroughly between colors and blotting dry.

  • Store paint pots tightly closed between sessions to preserve freshness.

  • Work in natural light or under a bright lamp for best color accuracy and detail.

  • Use a magnifying glass or reading light if needed—especially helpful for the tiniest numbered spaces.

  • Some colors may need a second coat. This isn’t a flaw—just the natural character of certain pigments. Let the first layer dry fully before adding another for rich, even coverage.

  • Consider sealing your finished piece with a clear acrylic varnish (matte or gloss) to protect and enhance your artwork.
