A Canvas for a Cause: Our Make-A-Wish Michigan Mural
Some projects hold a special place in our hearts. Our recent collaboration with Make-A-Wish Michigan was one of them.
Mitten Masterpiece was hired to create a 5-foot-by-5-foot custom paint-by-number canvas mural for a Make-A-Wish Michigan event. We were honored to bring our creativity to a project supporting an organization that means so much to children and their families.
And we got to be part of the painting, too! Gav and I volunteered our time at the event, helping guests pick up a brush and add their own contributions to the canvas.
A Big Canvas, Painted Together
At five feet tall and five feet wide, this mural brought our custom paint-by-number process to a whole new scale. Instead of a kit for one person to paint at home, it became a shared project that guests could help bring to life throughout the event.
That is one of our favorite things about a collaborative mural: you don’t need to consider yourself an artist to participate. The numbered sections give each painter a place to start, and every contribution becomes part of the finished piece. Whether someone paints a few small sections or stays a little longer, their brushstrokes help the artwork take shape.
There is something special about watching a canvas come together this way. Each person works on a small part, but together, they create something much bigger.
Our Time Behind the Brushes
Creating the mural was meaningful on its own, but being there to help guests paint made the experience even more personal.
We enjoyed volunteering our time, answering questions, and helping people feel comfortable getting started. We spend so much time preparing custom kits in the studio, so having the chance to be there while people paint is always a treat.
For this event, it was especially rewarding to share that experience in support of Make-A-Wish Michigan and the work they do for children and families.
Grateful to Be Part of It
We are proud that Mitten Masterpiece could play a small part in this event, and we are grateful to Make-A-Wish Michigan for trusting us with such a special project.
Our work often begins with an image and a canvas, but the people who paint it give it another layer of meaning. This mural will always remind us of the value of coming together, sharing our time, and creating something with a purpose.
Thank you, Make-A-Wish Michigan, for inviting us to be part of your event—and to everyone who picked up a brush and helped bring the mural to life.
With Love from Michigan,
Bobbie
